  • Cannot get enough of this podcast
    by shelleyjs from United States

I’m constantly on the prowl for intellectual stimulation. I’m stuck here permanently. I listen to Dr Lisle and I know that he’s right. In addition, four major issues I’ve had have been resolved. Bonus! I WILL see him in a seminar live as soon as it is feasible.

  • Great show, love *all* the discussions
    by cfernety from United States

It's refreshing to hear these informed, critical thinkers discuss political, social and psychological news and views. One has to go out of their way these days to find a different point of view, amidst the heavily censored, state sponsored MSM. I tell all my friends about this podcast. Longtime listener. Thank you!

  • BEST PODCAST THAT EXISTS
    by hfdjksdf from United States

Definitely a life changing podcast, this has to be one of the best I've come across. Even though the content can be depressing and earth shattering, I couldn't stop listening if i tried. My views of reality are changed and there's no going back. Dr Lisle/Howk are 100 years and IQ points ahead of your average psychologist and they will literally pinpoint the root of all your life problems in one consultation (offered on their website). This podcast will teach you truths about reality that are nowhere else to be found.

  • Divisive but worth it for a while.
    by OhGeeBobbyJohnson from United States

I really loved this show. The early episodes changed my life. I would suggest listening to the first 150, but once we reach the current moment it veers into territory that is unfortunately not my cup of tea. I don’t agree with their political conclusions and have a really hard time with it. But definitely listen for yourself and come to your own conclusion!

  • INCREDIBLY ENTERTAINING AND USEFUL!!!

Dr. Doug Lisle has a BRILLIANT mind. He explains the motivations and behaviors of humans from the perspective of evolutionary psychology. This analysis is both fascinating and useful to life. CAN’T GET ENOUGH!!!

  • Vaccine Passports and Libertarian principals
by RN from NH from United States

This is an amazing discussion about vaccination. I love the Libertarian viewpoint. I am not antivax but am amazed at the way people feel it is their business to ask me if I have been vaccinated. What happened to Healthcare Privacy? I have not been vaccinated yet and am not ready to do so. The drug industry has proven that they, and the government, are not to be trusted so I am still watching and learning what will be the best option for me, a 67 year old healthy plant based woman. We are on a slippery slope to government control of our personal lives. Thank you!

  • Valuable information abounds

  • My favourite podcast
    by ##*#*# from United Kingdom

What a wonderful podcast. I started from the beginning quite recently so have many hours of listening ahead. It feels like going back into education and has explained why I and others think and act the way we do. I have also found this information to be incredibly reassuring. A high point was Dr Lisle suggesting a strategy that I have used instinctively with my children, perhaps I got one thing right ☺️. When I have caught up with Beat your Genes I plan to source some of the books that have been mentioned along the way. Thank you so much.

This podcast has helped me through some troubled times and has really put things into perspective for me. • Super!!
by layra lyn from United States

    Interesting information!

  • Valuable useful info
    by EvCogneuroscience from United States

Dr. Lisle is a warm yet candid Clinical Evolutionary Psychologist that helps guide people throw everyday issues no matter how seemingly simple or complex. Although I agree with mostly everything he says he definitely has gaps in knowledge and can’t always answer everyone’s question (which as a scientist is a good thing). So don’t go thinking that he has ALL the answers for everything. He’s at his best when he’s talking about human mating strategies, people’s idiosyncrasies, and of course: Esteem Dynamics (which is his baby). The only gripe I have about the show is it still sounds like it’s produced in someone’s garge. Nate (the host) talks to Dr. Lisle over the phone due to them living far away from one another. Still, I find myself turning this one way, way up in order to hear them compared to other better produced pods.

  • Interesting
    by Dstack91 from United States

A good podcast with a great deal of insight into human behavior. HOWEVER, I think that Dr. Lisle should stick to evo psych and leave his politics out of the equation. The idea of “beating your genes” and overcoming disadvantages evolutionary traits via top-down regulation and insight seems to me completely antithetical to the libertarian ideology to be which Dr. Lisle subscribes. A bit sexist at times, perhaps a bit oversimplified, but still great content.

  • Love it. Long term listener, about 3 years now!
    by 1010110111101 from United States

    Love the show

    by Beka.D from Australia

This podcast has revolutionised my thinking on human behaviour. It has even helped my mental health, as my own behaviour as well as that of others ‘makes more sense’. If new to the idea Evolutionary Psychology his WILL be challenging at time. But go with it. It takes time to catch on to the new way of thinking.... but totally worth it!

  • Groundbreaking info every show
    by hoodwinkedatlanta from United States

Love the controversial topics and conversations each week. Dr. Lisle makes sense out of the world in weekly installments. He is my guru!

  • It's a 10!
    by mkalamar from United States

Funny, interesting, provocative, engaging--what isn't great about this podcast?!. If Beat Your Genes were a person it would be the fanciest human at the bar. Get ready to have your mind figuratively blown by Dr. Lisle's brutally honest but reliably scientific explanation of the human experience. Whether its about dating, dieting, telling off your father in law, or moving up the ladder at work, Dr. Lisle has a strategy to help you get ahead. New listeners may find some of the advice seemingly antiquated, but they will soon come to realize that Dr. Lisle brings us back to the basics of behavior with genetic/evolutionary explanations. You'll learn more about your own behavior and the behavior of those around you, as well as how to respond to your environment in ways that make life generally more pleasant, or at least more logical. Its best to start from the beginning and listen to the episodes in order to give yourself an understanding of the theories discussed, but my personal favorite episodes include #6, #7, #9, #43, #58,#76, #122 and many others. Listeners may also enjoy the works of Geoffrey Miller, Steven Pinker, Robert Sapolsky, Jordan Peterson, and others

  • Get ready to binge listen
    by 0Simix0 from Germany

Since 4 weeks I went from the very first episode to the most recent one. Thus, Nate and Dr Doug Lisle have taken accompanied me with epiphanies and laughter through these days for several hours each day. It was impossible to stop. Many lifelong question were answered to me. I learned so much so far for my own life decisions maximizing happiness. Next to that it also resulted in giving people close to me much better suggestions on what to do in their social life as well as personal life.

  • So much valuable info
    by coozoe from United States

I am always amazed at how Dr. Lisle can get right to the issue. I especially enjoy hearing about how the brain handles rich versus low calorie food and how difficult it is to break thru the reward system to succeed at whole food, plant based eating. The Falling out of Love podcast hit me right over the head. It was the info I needed 50 years ago.

  • Explains Human Behavior Like No Other
    by Somascribe from United States

I’m a podcast junky, hooked on the reams of great info available in the podcast-sphere. Beat Your Genes is at the top of my list for life changing info. Dr Lisle and Dr Nate G share concepts and conversations that explain human motivation in one lightbulb moment after another, especially in the realm of dating and mating. Don’t miss this podcast!

You never know what „reality“ or „truth“ is for every single individual. So seeing things through different perspectives is essential to understand what’s going on. Here, now, on the other side of the world, in a 100 years. This Podcast is another perspective - an AWESOME one.

  • Dr. Lisle knows everything!
    by avivamariacomerford from United States

No matter what problems the listeners bring up, Dr. Lisle is able to use evolutionary psychology to frame the issues and recommend a solution for each case. He has a wealth of knowledge and experience...and freely shares all of it in a way we can all understand. He’s an excellent and compassionate teacher!! Nate G., the host, is responsible for making the show work. Without this enthusiastic guy, there would be no podcast. And that would be awful. Really, really awful If you’re at all curious about human nature and relationships, this podcast is worth diamonds.

  • Love it
    by Jens0fallTrades from United States

I really love this podcast! It reminds me of my graduate and undergraduate level classes in both evolutionary psychology and biological anthropology. I truly loved those discussions and often miss the opportunity to discuss with people in my life today. The only thing I would suggest is having a different audio input in order to have better audio quality. Thanks for this continuing discussion!

  • Science > PC. Thank you!!
    by Hannahhh98 from Canada

Love it. The episode on the differences between males and females was very interesting. As a millennial female, I get very irritated when people (particularly my own generation) try to argue that there are no differences between the two groups. Thanks for not dancing around scientific facts in favour of political correctness. It’s helpful to understand the basic differences, even if there can be outliers.

  • Terrible Audio Quality. Otherwise Perfect
    by Nietzsche66 from United States

Can you PLEASE invest $100 into better audio equipment or do whatever needs to be done to improve it. The content is absolutely amazing, but I often choose another podcast because I can’t hear you when I’m mowing the lawn or cycling or the like. You have some of the best content around but by far the worst sound quality - and it’s not charming.
